IN LOVING MEMORY

Francis E. HarringtonIn loving memory of Francis E. Harrington January 21, 1926-February 2, 2011. He was born at Keokuk, Iowa, moved to Grand Rapids, Michigan where he started a career with Cities Service Oil Company. He started at ground level but soon became a terminal operator at Ferrysburg, Michigan where he loaded oil tankers delivering fuel on the Great Lakes. He was then transferred to Huntington, Indiana, and lived in the Waynedale area from 1963 to the present. He became terminal manager of the new Citgo terminal in Huntington and retired when he was 55 years old.
His lifelong mechanical genius began during World War II when he reverse engineered and restored captured German outboard motors in Yuma, Arizona.

Funeral services were held at St. Theresa Catholic Church on February 5, 2011.
His unique sense of humor, fair play, Christian values and industrious nature remain deeply etched in his family and friends.
I’d like the memory of me to be a happy one.
I’d like to leave an afterglow of smiles when day is done.
I’d like to leave an echo…
Whispering softly down the ways of happy times
and laughing times
And bright and sunny days.
I’d like the tears of those who grieve to dry
before the sun of happy memories that
I leave behind when day is done.
