Special High School Choral Festival slated for Oct. 26 and 27

Fort Wayne, Ind.­ Long a driving force for choral music education in northeastern Indiana, the Heartland Chamber Chorale is expanding its educational outreach efforts with a first-ever Young Singer Choral Festival for high school students October 26 and 27. Choir members from several High schools in the region are being invited through choir directors, to participate in this event which offers students the opportunity to rehearse, learn and perform alongside the professional singers of Heartland.

Learning and rehearsing sessions will take place on Saturday, Oct. 26 culminating with a magnificent open-to-the-public performance at 4 pm on Sunday, Oct. 27. All activities and the concert will be held at Fort Wayne¹s North Side High School, 475 E. State Blvd.

Choirs from Carroll, DeKalb, Homestead, Huntington North, New Haven, North Side and Snider high schools are among those participating. When the voices of Heartland are added to the high school choirs, more than 300 voices will perform the October 27 concert.

The Heartland Young Singer Choral Festival is being funded in part through the generosity of the Howard P. Arnold, Olive B. Cole, Auer, Lincoln Financial and Flora Dale Krouse foundations.
