Harz-Anniversary

Howard and Nancy Harz will be celebrating their 50th anniversary with a gathering of family and friends at their son's home.

Howard and Nancy were married on March 28, 1964 at Westfield Presbyterian Church in Fort Wayne, Indiana.

Nancy retired from Sandpoint Greenhouse and Howard retired from LH Industries.

They have 2 sons, six grandchildren and six great grandchildren.

The South Side Optimists Club donation of $300 to Nana’s creations will go towards supplying area elementary students with hand made embroidered blankets.

Tryouts are over and teams are set. In total the Wayne Baseball program kept 31 players including 7 seniors, 10 juniors, 8 sophomores and 6 freshmen. Under the tutelage of Head coach Eric Sherrill both teams look to have a very promising year, if they can play to their potential. The Assistant coaches are Lucas Fisher, Tony Georgi, Craig McCall and Kyle Sorlie along with bookkeeper Jeff Herring and volunteer Kyle Cyr.

Facade-Grants-2014 Mayor Henry

On Tuesday, March 4th, Mayor Tom Henry announced, at a press conference at Coe Heating and Air Conditioning, that 13 local businesses will be awarded $303,859 in City Funding for the 2014 Commercial Façade Grants. These businesses have pledged $1.1 million in private funding to help improve their properties.

How do your Passions Impact the World? Well, the Southside Optimist Club held their annual Oratorical Contest for young students under 19 and heard ten students with outstanding speeches on their passions.

February 18 at Atz's Restaurant there were seven young ladies sharing, "How My Passions Impact the World," with our club members. There were some very inspiring, motivational and outstanding speeches. The club awarded medallions and an Optimist portfolio to the top three speakers.
