As most of you already know, Waynedale is a wonderful place to live and work. Our community will soon be holding its 12th Annual Waynedale Picnic in the Park. Pre-kindergarten programs at Forest Park, Franke Park, Harrison Hill and Indian Village elementary schools have earned accreditation from the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC). Maplewood and Northcrest elementary schools, which have been accredited since 2009, received re-accreditation.

A merger of Ousley Insurance, LLC and GMI Agency, LLC was recently completed. GMI Agency, LLC is a wholly owned subsidiary of German Mutual Insurance Company of Indiana, which was established in 1868, and is located in Decatur. We will be having our annual Vacation Bible School Daycamp from June 16th to June 20th. This is no ordinary VBS. Our daycamp is led by actual camp counselors from Lutheran Outdoor Ministries Indiana-Kentucky. Children get the experience of camp right here at our church! This will be our 5th year to have the Luther Road counselors lead our Vacation Bible School. Waynedale's American Legion Post #241, AM VETS #33 and VFW #1421 honor our fallen heroes by placing American flags before the gravestones and niches of service members the Saturday prior to Memorial Day weekend.

This tradition, known as "flags in," has been conducted annually at both Arlington National Cemetery and the U. S. Soldier's and Airmen's Home National Cemetery since The Old Guard (the 3rd U.S. Infantry) was designated as the Army's official ceremony unit in 1948.
