SNYDER PLACES SECOND AT STATE

Danielle Snyder competed at the State SKILLS-VICA (Vocational Industrial Club of America) hairstyling competition and won 2nd place. The contest was held in Indianapolis on April 12th, 2003. She competed against 14 other contestants from Indiana. She won a large medal and a big assortment of hairstyling products. The competition consisted of 2 haircuts and styles on a manikin, 2 written tests and also an evening style on a model.

TWO LOCAL ARTISTS HONORED

Details

Mayor Graham Richard honored 33 area students with Mayor's Choice Awards on Monday, April 21st. Their artworks were chosen from among 6,000 entries submitted by Northeast Indiana students. Corey Leffers from St. Therese and Amanda Kurtz from Waynedale Elementary were the two Waynedale recipients. Corey said, "I did a picture of Jesus, but my friends said if I turned it sideways it looked like a fish."

WAYNEDALE MEMORIAL DAY PARADE PLANNING BEGINS

This year the Waynedale Memorial Day Parade is scheduled for Memorial Day, Monday, May 26th. Line-up prior to the parade will be at Waynedale United Methodist Church (Church Street & Old Trail). The parade will start at 9:00am and those wishing to be in the parade should be at the WUMC parking lot at 8:00am.

Parade sponsors are American Legion Post 241, VFW Post 1421, and AmVets Post 33. Post 241 Commander Charlie Rathsack has already had organizational meetings and the scheduling progress...

Spring is maple-sugaring time! From mid-March through April, many of northern Indiana's maple trees have holes drilled into them and buckets hung on their trunks.
