GIAQUINTA HONORED BY LEGION FOR LEGISLATIVE SERVICE

State Rep. Ben GiaQuinta (D-Fort Wayne), a World War II veteran, was honored by the American Legion Department of Indiana for his legislative efforts on behalf of those men and women who have served their country. Monday, July 1st 2002, Mark Evan's and the TV 33 news team visited The Waynedale Bakery. The Channel 33 TV remote truck arrived at the bakery at 4:30 am Monday morning and the set-up began. Those of you who stopped by the bakery found doughnuts and coffee free for all.

Little Turtle Go-Kart Staff includes Ben Zwick, Scott Pressler, Abe Wedler, and Chris Pressler (front row).

The fastest go-karts, the largest track and the lowest prices in the area are at Little Turtle Go-Karts, 5214 Decatur Road. Originally, Little Turtle was started by the Schmidt family in the mid-70's. It combined both a go-kart track and a bowling alley. A fire in the early 1980's destroyed the bowling alley moving the bowling business to its current location, 6700 Decatur Road/Hwy 27 South now known as Little Turtles Hillcrest Bowl. The go-kart track remains at 5214 Decatur Road.

New manager Carri takes a break in their newly remodeled Pizza Hut dining area.

Krieg Wolf has moved on to a new location. After 3 successful years managing the Waynedale Pizza Hut, Krieg and his wife Kim have moved to the Decatur Pizza Hut. The Waynedale Pizza Hut patrons will miss Krieg & Kim, but they wish them all the best on their new adventure.

WAYNE HIGH SCHOOL GRADUATE COMPLETES MARINE CORPS ENGINEERING COURSE

 

Marine Corps Pfc. Corey B. Trosper, grandson of Howard and Imogene Trosper of 2718 Lower Huntington Road recently graduated from the Marine Corps Basic Combat Engineer Course at Marine Corps Base, Camp Lejeune, North Carolina.

LOCAL WINNER-KALENE POWELL

Eleven year old Kalene Powell continues the family tradition by being the local winner of the Stock division Soap Box Derby race held in Goshen, IN on Saturday, June 15th. She was one of 36 boys and girls who competed in this race in Goshen. She will join over 425 other local Champs and 100 Rally Champs from all over the world to compete in the 65th All-American Soap Box Derby in Akron, Ohio on Saturday, July 27th.
