O’BRIEN 3-TIME TOUR CHAMP

Two Waynedale girls finished 1-2 in the Fort Wayne Parks and Recreation 2003 Junior Tour Golf Championship at McMillen Park Golf Course. Kristi O'Brien fired an 18-hole, 2-day total of 91 and Heather Hendrickson shot a solid 95 to take home the two biggest plaques in the Jr. Tour's biggest annual tournament. HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL REVIEW: COACH NEWLIN IS BACK

On Friday morning, August 8th, Coach Mark Newlin was in the middle of the Wayne High School practice field barking out orders to his football team. The team was dressed in shoulder pads helmets and shorts. Newlin was wearing shorts, a straw hat, and had a stop watch and whistle around his neck as he directed his new team through their drills.

SOMETHING IN THE WATER AT AVALON

There must be something in the water at Avalon Pool. In the last 27 years Avalon Swim Team has pulled out a victory at the City Swim Championship a total of 13 times. The diving team, coached by Amber Knoblauch and Sarah White, won their 19th Diving Championship on Sunday, July 27th with Joe Laughlin winning the Boys 9 and 10-year old 1-meter competition.
