The Law Firm of Tourkow Crell Rosenblatt & Johnston, located in Waynedale, Monroeville, Decatur, Fort Wayne, and Garrett sent their entire staff for a day in Nassau, Bahamas on Thursday, March 3, 2005, along with the next day off, Friday, to recuperate. This was given in recognition of their hard work and superior client service for the year 2004.

The following is a memoir written in 1986 by Carl C. Johnston, a reprint from the Old Fort News 1986, provided by The History Center, Fort Wayne courtesy of Marilyn Horrell. The memoir, which includes some recollections of his aunt, Gladys Marie Young of Fort Wayne, concerns his youth at the Allen County Asylum under the superintendency of Carl's grandfather, William H. Johnston, who governed the institution from 1908 to 1920.

Andrew Armstrong, a student at Waynedale Elementary, has found out that he will need to start kidney dialysis soon. He was diagnosed at 9 months of age with a blockage in his urinary tract, Posterior Urethral Valves/Hydornephrosis, which did significant damage to his kidneys. Steve and Erin are Andrew's parents. Dr. Marcia Sauter, Vice President for Academic Affairs at the University of Saint Francis, has announced students named to the Dean's List for the Fall 2004 semester. These students have maintained a 3.5 grade point average on a four-point scale and have carried at least 12 credit hours.

Olivia Lee, an eighth grade student at St. Joseph-St.Elizabeth School tied for third place in the Allen County Spelling Bee held on February 12, 2005.

Olivia competed with 85 other students from the county who likewise enjoy spelling and linguistics. According to Lee, "I am really glad for the chance to participate and experience what it is like to be in a spelling bee. I also met students from different schools in our area."

Congratulations to Kekionga Middle School Girls Basketball. The championship game was held on February 17, 2005 at Elmhurst High School. Kekionga had an 8-1 regular season record with the one defeat coming from Shawnee Middle School who Kekionga defeated in the championship game, 45-32.

David Michael Campbell and Kathleen Michelle Kinder celebrated their marriage on September 25, 2005 with a ceremony at the Waynedale United Methodist Church, Fort Wayne, Indiana.

Their parents are Michael and Diane Campbell of Trafalgar, Indiana, and Michael and Sandra Kinder of Fort Wayne, Indiana.

Technical Sergeant Anthony Vining, former Roanoke and Waynedale resident, has been awarded the Commander's Excellence Award for January 2005 by Lt. Colonel Robert Green, Commander, 324th Training Squadron of 737th Training Group, Lackland Air Force Base, Texas.

TSgt Vining was selected by Lt. Col. Green as the top professional among all permanent Party members assigned to the unit.

Phillip and Loann (Hoeppner) Oberkiser of 4710 West Cedar Crest Circle, Fort Wayne will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary on April 2, 2005 with a party given by their daughter Trudy Brunkhart and son Tim Oberkiser.

They met on a blind date. They were married March 26, 1955 at St. Paul United Methodist church. "We had a snowstorm with 6 or 7 inches of snow," commented Loann.
