TUFWC TO FEATURE TOM RUST

Tom Rust, Indiana University men's basketball chaplain will be the guest speaker for the Taylor TUFWC Alumni chapel at 10am, Friday, September 27, at First Missionary Church, 701 W. Rudisill Blvd., to kick off the campus' Homecoming/Parents' Weekend activities. Rust, from the class of 1972, played basketball while a student at Fort Wayne Bible College (now TUFWC) and served as the college's sports editor.

MILITARY NEWS

Details Hawaii came to the American Legion Post #296, on Tillman Road in August. The event was a big Kahuna Luau with a buffet that would please any Hawaiian palate, followed by  Grass Skirt, Hula Hoop, Don Ho and Best Dressed contests. The dancing and the decorations made you feel like you were on the island. Everyone went home with a smile on their face.

Marine Corps Pfc. Joshua S. Durnell, son of Gail and Steven Durnell Marine Corps Pfc. Ashley J. Becerra, son of Ellen K. and Jose A. Becerra of Mariners Ridge Drive, recently completed basic training at Marine Corps Recruit Depot, San Diego.

Durnell and Becerra successfully completed 12 weeks of training designed to challenge new Marine recruits both physically and mentally. Durnell, Becerra and fellow recruits began their training at 5am by running three miles and performing calisthenics....

On Monday morning, August 26th The Waynedale News took a ride with Officer Cornell Wiley. I thought it would be a good idea to take a ride with an on duty officer to see what it was like on an ordinary Monday morning.

Officer Wiley has been patrolling the Waynedale area for about seven years. He works the day shift, six days on and two days off. Besides Officer Wiley, there are a number of other officers covering the Southwest Quadrant on second and third shift.
