Explorer Post 2868, the Military Career Exploring program of the 122nd Fighter Wing recently held a 4-day scenario taken from Air Force Basic Military Training.

14 youth began the program, which was based upon actual training the youth, currently in the 8th grade through high school, may receive during BMTS if they join the Air Force, Air National Guard or Air Force Reserves.

Troop 344 Eagle Court of Honor was held Tuesday, August 13, 2002 to usher Joseph Francis Kiel and Christopher Edward LaMaster into the rank of Eagle Scout.

The proud parents of both Joseph and Christopher were on hand to watch Bob Rainwaters, Scoutmaster, do the honors of welcoming both young men into the order of Eagle Scout.

The finals of the Junior League Baseball Central Region game at Georgetown Wednesday, August 7 was won by the host team Hamilton Park All-Stars. This was the second game of the day for both teams.

Fort Wayne celebrated its fifth annual National Night Out Against Crime on Tuesday, August 6th, 2002 in Waynedale at the Foster Park Sears Pavilion, Bluffton Road.

The NNO campaign involved representatives from the Fort Wayne Police Department including the Emergency Services Team (EST), K-9 Patrol, Bicycle Patrol, Crime Scene Management and the Motorcycle Division as well as the Fort Wayne Fire Department, Three Rivers Ambulance Authority, and the Allen County Sheriff's Department.

99 Years Young!

Florence Doty has many experiences to share. She was born on August 18th, 1903.

The family was blessed with 4 children, 9 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren, and 18 great great grandchildren.

Florence says that she has had a good life. Florence was a school teacher for 25 years. After retiring from teaching Florence wrote poems. Several of them were published. The following poem titled "I Wonder" was written in 1979.
