UNIVERSITY OF SAINT FRANCIS

USF EXCEEDS RESIDENCE HALL CAPACITY

Steve Briggs, Director of Residential Life at USF, has announced that the university has received more requests for on-campus housing for the 2002/2003 academic year than can be accommodated. As a result, 12 upper-class women students will be housed at the Aston Pointe apartment complex for this year. Kristi O'Brien, a 7th grader at St. Therese Catholic School is a regular participant in the Ft. Wayne Parks and Recreation Jr. Golf Program, which was featured in the July 24th edition of The Waynedale News. Kristi won the Tour Championship at Foster Park Golf Course. This is a 2-day tourney and is the most prestigious Jr. Tournament of the year. Kristi fired rounds of 53 and 49 to capture the tour championship for the 2nd year in a row for her age division. Christopher Andrew Silvers and Nicole Marie Chaput were married at 4:30pm, June 14, 2002 at Clear Lake in Fremont, Indiana at St. Paul's Chapel. The service was performed by Father Tim Kummerer. Music was performed by singers Don and Peggy Knvere and pianist Dave Monager.

Francis "Pete" & Lewann (Musselman) Carteaux were married September, 1, 1962 at St. Charles Catholic Church in Fort Wayne. They have two children, Francis "Pete" Jr., who lives in Columbia City and Jeannine Solis who lives in Rockport, Texas. They have seven Grandchildren. Pete and Lewann will celebrate their anniversary with a tour of Alaska.

Delmer G. and Elisabeth (Mayer) Grotrian of Woodheath Avenue will celebrate their 55th Wedding Anniversary with a family dinner on September 6, 2002 at the Orchard Ridge Country Club. They were married September 6, 1947 in Heidelberg, Germany.

They have three sons, Paul Grotrian of Richardson, Texas, Ron Grotrian of Fort Wayne, and Gary Grotrian of Huntington, Indiana. They also have four Grandchildren and one Great Grandchild.

Trainees James Cochran II and Matthew McCave prepare AETC Forms 341 (Demerit slips) for presentation. Both are members of Explorer Post 2868.

Explorer Post 2868, the Military Career Exploring program of the 122nd Fighter Wing recently held a 4-day scenario taken from Air Force Basic Military Training.

14 youth began the program, which was based upon actual training the youth, currently in the 8th grade through high school, may receive during BMTS if they join the Air Force, Air National Guard or Air Force Reserves.

Troop 344 Eagle Court of Honor was held Tuesday, August 13, 2002 to usher Joseph Francis Kiel and Christopher Edward LaMaster into the rank of Eagle Scout.

The proud parents of both Joseph and Christopher were on hand to watch Bob Rainwaters, Scoutmaster, do the honors of welcoming both young men into the order of Eagle Scout.
