GROUND BREAKING NEWS!

Details

The ground breaking for the St. Therese Parish new church is slated for Palm Sunday, March 24th. It will take place following the 11:30am Mass (12:45pm).

Before this date there will be some preliminary work done by the contractors, Michael Kinder and sons Construction Company.

The one block section of road vacated by the city council, formerly known as Liberty Drive, will be closed to through traffic by early March. Construction will continue for about one year.

MT. CALVARY NOW OFFERING A PROGRAM FOR 2 YEAR OLDS

With Mt. Calvary's new Family Life Center reaching completion soon, the Preschool is ready to expand it's ministries, as more space has become available. A new class for two-year-olds is being offered for the 2002-2003 school year, and is the only one available in the immediate Waynedale area.

St Aloysius is offering a varied and well-developed academic program for early learners. This year's Round Up day is March 11, 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. You and your kindergarten children are invited to meet the teachers. Mizpah Shriners and The Scottish-Rite will once again host a Saint Patrick's Day Parade. This will be co-sponsored again this year by WLDE 101.7 FM & Miller Lite. The parade will begin at 4pm Sunday March 17, 2002 on the corners of Wayne & Fairfield Avenue, East to Harrison Street, North to Berry Street, and West on Berry to Fairfield Avenue following the Green Line in the center of all the streets on the parade route.

IPFW Student Activities Board to Hold "Old School Hip Hop" Concert

The IUPU Student Activities Board will hold an "Old School Hip Hop" Concert March 23 at the Allen County War Memorial Coliseum. The Waynedale News caught up with Amanda Perez on Tuesday. Amanda had just returned to Waynedale after doing a benefit concert Saturday in San Diego. The concert was held to raise awareness and money in the case of kidnap victim, Danielle VanDam. Amanda finished the San Diego concert and then came back to Waynedale to begin preparing for an upcoming concert at the Memorial Coliseum. The concert (The Big Schizzo) will happen on February 21st and is being sponsored by WJFX-FM/HOT 107.9

AEP REPLACES POLE ON LOWER HUNTINGTON ROAD

On Tuesday, February 12, AEP was across from the Waynedale News, replacing an outdated utility pole. Part of the AEP crew had been there a few days earlier, preparing the site. They cut a section of concrete out of the sidewalk within a few feet of the old pole.
