Rev. Gary Miller was installed as the senior pastor of Mount Calvary Lutheran Church, 1819 Reservation Drive, on Sunday, June 9, 2002. Presiding at the installation was Rev. Arnold Piering, pastor of Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Fort Wayne and counselor for the Fort Wayne South Circuit.

Rev. Miller comes to Mount Calvary after serving congregations in Cleveland and Archbold, Ohio. While leading congregations in the Ohio District Rev. Miller also held several district positions.

On Tuesday, June 18, 2002 the newly renovated and expanded facility for Older Adults, Villa of the Woods, 5610 Noll Avenue was dedicated with Bishop John M. D'Arcy presiding.

Villa of the Woods is a licensed residential living facility serving older adults and participates in the State of Indiana Medicaid Room and Board Assistance Program. The Waynedale Memorial parade was larger than ever and the people of Waynedale and the surrounding areas showed their appreciation by attending in record numbers. The picnic at the Waynedale Park, following the parade, was also double what it was last year. There were plenty of free fishing poles, games and a moonwalk for the kids.

The skies were clear, the sun was bright, and the temperatures were warmer this year for the second annual Waynedale Days' Picnic in the Park.
