Waynedale Picnic 2015

HIP HIP HOORAY!
It’s time to mark your calendars for the 14th Annual Waynedale Community Picnic. This year’s picnic will be held on August 27th from 10am-3pm at the Waynedale Park at the intersection of Koons and Elzy Street just off of Lower Huntington Road. The picnic is a rich tradition in the Waynedale community that is unlike any other. This is a family-friendly event that is made possible by over 100 local businesses and many community volunteers.

LRWP Wine on the Wetlands

Local land trust Little River Wetlands Project will host its summer fundraiser, Wine on the Wetlands, on Friday, August 5, 5:30-8:30PM at its Eagle Marsh preserve, 6801 Engle Road, Fort Wayne. Presented by Aqua Indiana with additional support from 3Rivers Federal Credit Union, Anthony Wayne Corporation, and Allegra Printing, the event will take place in the barn and under a large tent nearby. All are welcome! We are seeking to provide fresh, wholesome, locally grown produce to those in our community who have limited access to it. This season, garden harvest times will be Mondays from 4-6pm, Wednesdays from 10am-12pm and Saturdays from 10am-12pm. Community members and those who harvest from the garden are asked to work during designated harvest times or by scheduling another time with Purdue Extension.

Marathon runner, Bill Harris, takes note of the utility tool pole available for bikers to use located next to the water fountain, along the Tow Path Trail-corner of Engle Road and Jefferson Blvd.

More than 70,000 walkers, joggers and cyclists journeyed Fort Wayne trails last month – smashing the previous trail user mark by nearly 18,000. Trail count numbers for June of this year hit 73,226. The previous high mark for June was 55,432, set in 2012.
