Richard and Kathleen Blauvelt

Richard and Kathleen Blauvelt were married November 29, 1945, and have resided in Fort Wayne for the past 70 years.

The Blauvelts have six children: Beverly Moran, Naperville, Illinois; William, South Bend; Robert, Denver, Colorado; James, Kokomo; Margaret Echrich, Fort Wayne; and Richard, Greenwood.

Richard and Kathleen met at a USO dance in Hot Springs, Arkansas, while Richard was serving in the Army in 1944.

Brown 50th Anniversary - Barbara and John Brown

Barbara and John Brown celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary. They were married December 3, 1965 at Waynedale United Methodist Church and were blessed with three sons: Eric, Jason, and Todd. Now enjoying four grandchildren, the couple celebrated with a family dinner December 11th at Main Street Bistro in Fort Wayne.

Larry and Sharon Elam

Larry and Sharon Elam are celebrating their 55th Wedding Anniversary. They were married on December 17, 1960.

The Elam’s have been blessed with 3 children; Kelli, Randal and Candace. And, they have 2 grandchildren; Larson and Shea.
They plan to celebrate by taking a trip to Riviera Maya in Mexico.

From December 7 to 10, Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic School first graders and their parents made and sold cookies for 25 cents each at Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic School. On December 11, after the school Mass, first grade teacher Mrs. Julie Peters announced that the “Goodies for God” sale had made a total of $1,006 to be donated to the Women’s Care Center.

What an unbelievable win that was over a tough, well-coached team...Northrup. Winning is FUN. But it’s always much more fun when we end up winning after having one foot in the grave, and the other on a banana peel!

Officials at the Fort Wayne-Allen County Airport Authority and WANE TV are pleased to announce the winners of this year’s “Home for the Holidays” contest. Entries were submitted via short essay explaining why the soldier deserves a trip home this holiday season.
