PAWS project

An area non-profit agency which provides registered dog handler teams to patients for the purpose of physical, occupational and psychological therapies, among others types, will be the recipient of a portion of the proceeds of a concert at Roanoke’s Cottage Event Center. Pets Assisting Well-Being and Success, aka PAWS INC., was established to share the scientifically proven positive benefits of Animal Assisted Therapy in education, healthcare and other areas.

Fort Wayne Community Schools’ Study Connection program will host Zumbathon 2016 on Saturday, February 13. The event will be held at North Side High School from 1-3 p.m. Registration is $20 at the door (cash or check). This Valentine’s Day take your sweetheart on a trip that won’t be forgotten — to the largest documented winter eagle roost in Indiana.

Eagle watches will be offered February 13 and 14 through DNR’s Upper Wabash Interpretive Services.

Cadet Jackson Pierce is currently a second year cadet at The Virginia Military Institute (VMI) in Lexington, Virginia. Jack is studying on a four year Army ROTC scholarship. He is a Biology major, an EMT and excels at the martial arts.

Powell 60th anniv2

Charles and Marvel (Bashop) Powell, Winchester Road, will celebrate their 60th wedding anniversary. They were married on February 25, 1956 in the Third Street United Brethren (now Anchor Community Church).

The Powell’s have been blessed with four children. Sons, Gary and Tim Powell, Fort Wayne and two daughters, Cheri Vinson, Fort Wayne and Deb Smith, Angola. They are also the proud grandparents of 8 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. All living near the Fort Wayne area.
