Hope House Grand Opening

Mad Anthonys Children’s Hope House announced their ribbon-cutting ceremony for its expanded gift shop operations held on Tuesday, January 12 at Dupont Hospital, 2520 E. Dupont Road.

Food For Shoes Lions Club

The Waynedale Lions Club has teamed with Waynedale Elementary, the PTA and other local organizations to buy a local child in need a pair of shoes with every adult dinner sold at an upcoming fundraiser. On Thursday, February 11 from 4-7pm the Waynedale Lions will host a fish dinner with a desert bake sale at Waynedale Elementary School (7201 Elzey Street, Fort Wayne, IN).

Steven D. Thurber, 26, a 6’1” guard, signed with the Indiana Dream, a semi-pro basketball team located in Muncie, Indiana. Steven will be the starting guard for the 2016 Dream. IU Student Speaks

On January 7, Indiana University senior Amy Krach spoke to Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic School’s 5th to 8th graders. Amy Krach spoke about the high number of people in developing countries who work long hours for low wages, are often unjustly treated, and that children are also forced to work. It opened as the Clyde Theatre. This was a single-screen theatre and was named by its owner Helen Quimby. Helen named it after her late husband, Clyde Quimby. The Clyde Theatre was built April 19, 1951.

The support for revitalizing the downtown and river districts in Fort Wayne has finally overflowed to Quimby Village. Some of my greatest childhood memories are filled with adventures there. Richard and Kathleen Blauvelt

Richard and Kathleen Blauvelt were married November 29, 1945, and have resided in Fort Wayne for the past 70 years.

The Blauvelts have six children: Beverly Moran, Naperville, Illinois; William, South Bend; Robert, Denver, Colorado; James, Kokomo; Margaret Echrich, Fort Wayne; and Richard, Greenwood.

Richard and Kathleen met at a USO dance in Hot Springs, Arkansas, while Richard was serving in the Army in 1944.

Brown 50th Anniversary - Barbara and John Brown

Barbara and John Brown celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary. They were married December 3, 1965 at Waynedale United Methodist Church and were blessed with three sons: Eric, Jason, and Todd. Now enjoying four grandchildren, the couple celebrated with a family dinner December 11th at Main Street Bistro in Fort Wayne.
