While summer is a break from school, the Sylvan Learning Center of Fort Wayne doesn't believe that the time off should also be a break from learning. A recent survey* from Sylvan Learning found that on average, kids spend significantly more of their free time playing outside (30%), playing video games (17%) and watching TV (18%) than reading (12%). A rummage and bake sale and concession stand fundraiser will be held for COTA in honor of Noel Resor, a Fort Wayne-area child who needs a kidney transplant. The event is planned for Saturday, July 19, at Avalon Missionary Church's Family Life Center, 1212 Lower Huntington Road-Parking Lot, from 9 a.m. – 3 p.m.

15-year-old Noel anticipates a kidney transplant at Riley Hospital for Children in Indianapolis. Funds are being raised to assist with transplant-related expenses.

The-Stand-Trails-Fundraiser

The Waynedale Trails & Sidewalks fundraiser that was hosted on Sunday, June 22nd by Bobick's Golf and The Stand was indeed a success! Both businesses were steady throughout the day as families visited, all enjoying free buckets of balls for children from Bobick's, then cooling down afterwards with free cones from The Stand for the kids.

Two popular local businesses will be hosting a joint fundraiser for the Waynedale Trails and Sidewalks Initiative on Sunday, June 22nd from Noon to 5 p.m.

Bobick's has pledged l00% of the proceeds from the driving range to go to the fund as well as providing kid's 12 or younger a free bucket of balls. The Stand will be donating $1.00 from each Coney dog sold to the Waynedale Trails and Sidewalks Initiative and will also serve free soft serve ice cream cones to children 12 or under accompanied...

Girl-Scouts-zipline

On Saturday, June 7, 2014, Girl Scouts of Northern Indiana-Michiana held a grand opening and ribbon cutting dedication of the McMillen High Adventure Course at Camp Agnes S. McMillen to celebrate the 65th birthday of its wonderful camp.
