The Hairy Dog is a full service grooming shop that recently opened October 1, 2012 at 6415 Bluffton Road (Colony Plaza) in Waynedale.

The owner/operator of the shop is Ronda Kahn. She and her family reside in Waynedale. "Opening a grooming shop has been a long time dream, and Waynedale seemed the perfect place," said Ronda.

"I have been grooming dogs for thirteen years. I was trained by a certified master groomer who was the judge of numerous grooming competitions, and also featured in several grooming magazines."

In the near future, Mike Repine will join the Hairy Dog. He is also a certified groomer with thirty-five years experience.

The Hairy Dog strives to provide a clean, quiet, stress-free environment for your dog. They will offer individual appointments, or you may drop your dog off on the way to work and pick up on your way home. Your dog is not kept in a cage all day long. Your pet is allowed to roam the shop and play. The Hairy Dog says that they will gladly work with clients with special needs and those that require pick up and delivery.

When your dog comes for grooming your pet will receive a minimum of two baths, a conditioning rinse, hand-fluff dry, groomed to your specifications, ear hair pulled and ears cleaned, nails cut and buffed, a treat (or several), and a bandanna. They also do anal glands at your request at no additional charge.
On hand The Hairy Dog offers specialty shampoos, skin treatments, deshedding, facials, dental treatments, hand-stripping and show grooming.

There are "neaten" appointments which include bath, fluff dry, cut and buffed nails, ears cleaned, trim on face, feet and private areas. They are less than a full groom and will keep your dog looking and smelling fresh between full grooms. In addition, they also have walk-in toe nail cutting and buffing.
Only natural products are used.

The goal of The Hairy Dog is for your dog to be HAPPY about going to the groomer and to be Happy and beautiful after being groomed.
