CAMP WATCHA-WANNA-DO CAMPER APPLICATIONS

Details
Text Size:

Applications are available for Camp Watcha-Wanna-Do, Ltd., the only camp in Northern Indiana serving children surviving cancer or brain tumors. The one-week summer camp session runs from June 16-21. Youngsters age seven through high school graduation are eligible to attend the six-day resident camping experience. As cancer affects the whole family, the Camp Watcha-Wanna-Do program allows a sibling to attend the entire week, along with the child surviving cancer. Children age seven and under are invited to attend the one-day Kinder Camp on Wednesday, June 19, along with their family members. The camp is based at YMCA Camp Potawotami, near South Milford, Indiana.

At Camp Watcha-Wanna-Do, campers have the opportunity to experience traditional camp activities, including archery, horseback riding, swimming, boating, crafts and more. Thanks to the availability of nurses from the Pediatric Oncology Clinic at Lutheran Children's Hospital, on-site the entire week, the children can enjoy "the best time of the year" in a safe environment.

Camp Watcha-Wanna-Do, Ltd. is a privately funded local 501 © 3 organization founded in 1991. Thirty-eight children surviving cancer attended the first annual camp session in 1992. In less than three years, over 100 children were enjoying camp activities in a worry-free, medically supervised environment.
