Co-owner Kathy Freiburger styles customer Helen Muntzinger’s hair at the Hair Affair Spring Social.Hair Affair, 6200 Bluffton Road and Kingston Residence on Winchester Road partnered Saturday, May 11th to host the 1st Annual Spring Social benefiting the Fort Wayne Trails ~ Waynedale Initiative. There was plenty of pampering going on with beauty treatments such as haircuts, manicures, pedicures, Diva nail art and even a Senior Special with a Style and Makeup. Rick Ross from Body Kneads provided complimentary chair massages and there were also free hand massages offered to patrons between treatments.

Under the tent supplied by Fort Wayne Awning, Kingston Residence set up free popcorn, cake pops, cookies, fruits, veggies and fresh lemonade. Although the weather was a bit nippy, it did not deter ladies from coming out and getting their picture taken in the festive photo booth. Colorful flags and flower decorations under the tent were created by the residents of Kingston Residence and JW Signs provided a striking banner.

Co-owner of Hair Affair, Kathy Freiburger expressed an interest in supporting the ongoing trail project following the Taste of Waynedale, where half the proceeds went to the Waynedale Initiative. Audrey Clark, an intern at Kingston Residence, met with Kathy and other co-owners Sherry Billings and Karen McClain and the idea of the Spring Social was born.

Freiburger states, "The Trails are so popular and good for the Waynedale community. A pedestrian crossing over Lower Huntington bridge and ramp would allow many of the residents here to access the St. Mary's Pathway safely. Our customers support the Trails and so do we!"

That resolve paid off. Between Hair Affair and their staff donating their services, combined with contributions taken from patrons the day of the event, an amazing $2,000 was raised toward the Fort Wayne Trails ~ Waynedale Initiative Fund. Indeed, the Spring Social was an Affair to Remember!
