Catherine (James) Mason was elected President, Catherine (Elsworth) Geller as Vice-President, Jacqueline (Roy) Cook as Secretary, Angie (Kenneth) McCague as Treasurer, and Doris (Charles) Miller as Publicity Chairman.

A letter was sent to the Wayne Township Volunteer Fire Department No. 1, Attention Mr. E. W. Stark, Secretary, asking permission to be accepted as an auxiliary to the fire department. The Wayne Township Fire Department granted them permission to proceed on November 17, 1954.

The meetings were held on the third Friday of each month at the fire station.

In a recent interview with one of the original founders, Doris Miller said, "Kate Mason was the one that really wanted to get the auxiliary going. We would get together and just have a lot of fun. We had potlucks, bought Christmas gifts for the kids and just helped out where ever we could. The name auxiliary means 'Helper' and that is what we did. The Waynedale Volunteer Fire Department was transferred to the Southwest Fire District in December of 1987 and the Women's Auxiliary was closed on January 1, 1989. I really miss all the great times we had together."
