MARTY SHIPLEY DAYEach one of us works to provide for our future. Unfortunately life gets in the way. Marty Shipley and his wife Cindy were doing just that, working hard providing for their family and looking towards retirement.

Then a cruel turn in life happened. Marty was diagnosed with esophageal cancer in 2008. He has endured several surgeries, radiation treatments and numerous chemo therapy treatments, while he and Cindy continued working to provide for their family.

Marty, who has worked at Brooks Construction for 22 years, is now at a point where he is unable to work because of his health, and yet the bills of course do not stop. It is very hard for Marty and Cindy, since all of their lives they have worked so hard, because they are not afraid of hard work.

That is why friends and co-workers are declaring June 20th Marty Shipley Day. We are celebrating the husband, father, grandfather and great friend that he is. We are asking anyone who would like to share a note of encouragement or make a monetary pledge, please stop by Dr. Thomas Blake's office on Wednesday, June 20, between the hours of 9am and 4 pm. If you like, you can mail it to the office. The office address is 2409 Fairoak Drive, 46809, right here in Waynedale. Cindy has been the receptionist at Dr. Blake's office for 15 years.

Also Pizza Hut (6809 Bluffton Road) will be giving out cards at the office, during the week of June 18-21, to use on Monday, June 25th. Carry out, or dine in, 15 percent will go to Marty. Dr. Blake's office will donate a percentage of their profits to Marty and Cindy on June 20th and hold a raffle for 2 IU basketball tickets for the upcoming season during the week of June 18th -21st. If you can't make a pledge or visit any of the above businesses, please keep Marty, Cindy and their family in your prayers.
