This week's guest columnist is Steve C, who is a friend of Alcoholics Anonymous. Steve's story could not be adequately covered in just one issue of The Waynedale News so to be fair, we've condensed it into a series of short articles; here then is the beginning of Steve's story.

My name is Steve and I am a recovering alcoholic. Fifteen years ago when I first darkened the doors of Alcoholics Anonymous, my lips could not utter the words "I am an alcoholic." For reasons I never understood, from my...

Shoulder Pain

I was watching the World Series the other day and as I watched the pitchers pitch the ball I couldn't help to think about how much stress they put on their shoulder muscles with every throw. I mean I get sore from just looking at them. The good news is that most of these shoulder injuries that you see or hear about are less complicated and easier to treat than one would think. There are several types of shoulder injuries such as a traumatic AC joint separation, bursitis or...

This week's "Here's To Your Health" is from a recovering alcoholic named Fiona D. who lives in Ireland, in County Mayo, in a pleasant little house in a town immediately on the seacoast. When you come into the reception area you will notice a fine aroma of candles and the complimentary teas with purified...

This week's Here's To Your Health is the conclusion of Sister Ruth's story...The greatest feeling I can have comes to me with the thought that God loves me. Who am I to deserve such an honor? When we keep tuned to God's will we develop a sixth sense that keeps our thinking straight and if we keep that straight we won't drink! Some people call that a gut feeling, and I often ask the women I sponsor, "What's your gut feeling about this," ever since I worked the 12 steps and got sober, my gut...

In the next segment of Here's To Your Health we will complete Sister Ruth's story, but she is on vacation this week, so I invited Professor Glenn C. to be our guest columnist. He is a Methodist Minister who is a recovering alcoholic. He has a doctorate from Oxford University and has written widely known books on Christian theology in addition to several good books on Alcoholics Anonymous. Here is what the professor wrote: In 1934, Bill W., the co-founder of Alcoholics Anonymous, was sitting in...
