HERE’S TO YOUR HEALTH

Details Willard Richardson

Here's to Your Health has mentioned many people who influenced AA's birth and rapid growth, but before we wrap up Barleycorn's version of AA's history, there are two more people I should mention, pictured is Willard Richardson. Bill Wilson said of him, ""One of the finest servants of God and man that I shall ever know!" I'd also like to quote Dr. W. W. Bauer who said under the auspices of the American Medical Association on NBC network: "Alcoholics Anonymous is no crusader; not a temperance...

WHEN IS A COUGH CHRONIC?

Details

How many bottles of cough medicine did you buy last winter? Do you usually carry a package of cough drops? A cough may seem like a common thing, you just dose it and ignore it. Don't do that. Your cough, if it is a chronic one, may be serious.

Has your cough been hanging around for a month or more? Then you may have a chronic cough. It doesn't matter that you cough only in the morning when you get up, or only at night when you lie down. If you have been coughing for more than a month your...

Bill said he could remember their first meeting as if it were yesterday:

...does tooth loss double your risk of stroke?

Dear Dr. Reichwage,

I read your column about periodontal disease and how it can cause heart attacks. I'm wondering if I should be worried because of my mom's situation. She is 67 and had periodontal disease for years, but she refused to get help. About 10 years ago, her teeth were pulled and she wears dentures. Even though she is not that old, she has had heart attacks and several mild strokes.

My sister and I also have periodontal...

HERE’S TO YOUR HEALTH

Details Dr. Sam Shoemaker

For the past several weeks, "Here's To Your Health," has mentioned a few of the many medical doctors and psychiatrists who contributed to the foundation of AA. Bill Wilson also said there were several theologians involved in AA's beginning, one of them was Dr. Sam Shoemaker, and here are some of Sam's comments: We know the first thing that got into Bill's mind as offering any hope for a solution to alcoholism was talking with some men in whom there was the beginning of a real religious...

No Need to Suffer With Chronic Nasal and Sinus Problems

Have you ever had a cold or allergy attack that just won't go away? If so, there's a good chance you actually had sinusitis. Experts estimate that 37 million people are affected with sinusitis every year, making it one of the most common health conditions in America. That number may be significantly higher since the symptoms of bacterial sinusitis often mimic those of colds, allergies, and many sufferers never see a doctor for proper...
