Jupiter, Saturn and the Full Frost Moon

 

Jupiter and Saturn will both hang out with a nearly full moon the first week of December. Jupiter will make its appearance in both early morning and late evening hours while the ringed planet Saturn will greet the moon in the early evening sky.

When I was quite young, (in the 40's and early 50's), the Waynedale Grade School was a place of great anticipation on Monday nights during the summer time. I don't know who put the shows on, but every Monday night all the Waynedale kids would gather up blankets and chairs, make up popcorn, get candy from Gillispie's Grocery Store, and head on over to the back of the school at dusk. Dear Cousin,

 

The sun is struggling bravely to pierce the smoky haze that surrounds Pilot Knob as another fair day begins to take shape. This extended Indian summer weather has been a mixed blessing, as extremely dry weather conditions have caused numerous brush fires in our vicinity. The Nintendo Game Cube and Microsoft's XBox are battling each other for the best home video game console this fall. Last year Sony's Playstation 2 was one of the hardest to find, and most desired toy of every video game fan.
