The Lamplighters Home Ec Club recently attended the Arena Theater to celebrate their club’s 50th year anniversary.

It was the Elmhurst Better Home Club that saw the need for an evening club so new members met at the home of Mrs. Edward Moering on August 14, 1951. Plans were made for the club. The name "Lamplighters" was adopted and the following officers were elected: President-Mrs. V. P. Uron, Vice President-Mrs. Eloise Zion, Secretary-Mrs. Elmer Lankenau, Treasurer-Mrs. Ray Ensley, and Reporter-Mrs. Lynn Eickhoff. The Waynedale United Methodist Women, Pat Noel (left) and Audrey Prince (right) are gearing up for the Annual Fall Bazaar--Saturday, November 3rd, 9am to 2pm.

The Waynedale United Methodist Women are gearing up for their annual Fall Bazaar to be held on Saturday, November 3 from 9am until 2pm. Again this year there will be a snack bar, featuring soups, sandwiches, and homemade pies. There will be apple dumplings, homemade candy, famous hard candy, a bake shop, homemade cookies for sale by the box and lots of crafts made by their own ladies and several craft vendors. All proceeds from this Bazaar will go toward Pledge to Missions.

I want to talk about the word focus. Let's say you find yourself in a game where you can't make anything. I know you have been there so anyway when this happens to you and when it's your opponents turn at the table, I want you to pick something out across the poolroom and "focus" on the smallest detail on whatever it might be. And then find something else to focus on to where you're seeing the finest details.

Dear Cousin,

 

The mellow air of autumn surrounds our hills and enfolds us in a warm and tender embrace. Pilot Knob is wreathed in a blue, smoky mist this morning, while the nearer hills shine in their gay autumn garb. Overhead, rows of white, fleecy clouds march in orderly fashion, looking much like flocks of sheep on their way to greener pastures.
