Apple's aggressive advertising campaign brings out the truth on Microsoft Windows.
When I was a consultant at Indiana University we had a little survey of computer preference. Computer consultants with Windows backgrounds and Macintosh backgrounds and even NeXT users actually preferred Macintosh computers over Windows Machines.
With Mac OS X and the new line of Macintosh computers (iMac, iBook, Power Macintosh and the new eMac) Apple computer's products are touting amazing features prices and promises that are actually true. A crash proof rugged operating system of Mac OS X is beautiful and elegant as well as easy, simple and powerful. And many new features and software applications now accomplish the same things that Windows machines, including running windows as a simple application.
If a program does decides to crash in Mac OS X it will not effect any other programs or the operating system. So if I print a word document and run my e-mail program and I download a file that crashes my E-mail program and quits, my computer will still print without problems and I can keep working in word without worrying about my computer loosing any information. I can re-launch my e-mail program and delete the file that corrupted my e-mail program. I can do all that without restarting my computer.
Apple's new advertising campaign shows real people and their story on why they switch to a Macintosh, and why they are glad they made the switch. I personally have been waiting for a positive campaign to target the Windows users and make them switch.
I'm not a paid writer for blowing the horn for Apple, but when I'm in the industry of computers and technology, and see a product, a company and a campaign that catches my eye, I'm there.
