EDWARDS PRODUCTION PRESENTS…

This ugly duckling is taking flight. Check out the current production "Honk" by Edwards Production Inc. "Grandma Sylvia's Funeral", an interactive audience participation show, was the last performance by Edwards Production, a traveling community theatre group based out of Fort Wayne, Indiana. They travel to various towns in both Indiana and Ohio with a mission of bringing actors, both new and old, together to both educate and entertain, while having fun in the process.

Honk! is their current production. They have gathered together approximately 35 children in the Fort Wayne area as the youth chorus backing up a talented group of actors. It is a simple tale, familiar to most. The ugly duckling rejected for being different from the rest of the brood, learns the pain of prejudice and the power of individuality. But with "Honk" it is a bird of a different feather.

Along the way, Ugly meets a wealth of memorable characters. In an old woman's cottage, the uppity cat Queenie and the domesticated hen Lowbutt (so named for her "deficiency in the leg department") sing ever so politely: "It takes all sorts to make a world, but we don't want them here." A flock of geese, in the guise of a squadron of World War II Royal Air Force pilots, lead "A Wild Goose Chase" to help find Ugly's mom. And the showstopper is a chorus line of green spangled and flippered frogs assuring Ugly that he will find someone to love him "Warts and All."

Recently this show premiered in Chicago and received rave reviews for its presentation of diversity within the script and music. Please join Edwards Production on this classic tale which will be performed at the Parks & Recreation Community Center, 233 West Main Street, Fort Wayne for 3 shows only, Friday, April 19, Saturday, April 20, and Sunday, April 21. The Saturday (April 20) shows, both morning and evening, will include signing for the deaf. Cocktails and a buffet consisting of a salad bar, ham, sweet potatoes, scalloped potatoes, corn, green beans, rolls and dessert will be featured. For reservations call 496-9291 or 1-888-725-7055 pin #6038.
