Robert N. Carnes, Sr. 83, died Monday, February 3, 2003 at his Fort Wayne residence. A native of Wells County, Indiana, he worked at Conrail for 40 years and retired in 1981. He was a member of Colony Heights Church of Christ and American Legion Post #296. He was a WWII Army veteran, enjoyed horseshoes, bowling, fishing, and hunting. Leonard V. Johnson, 87, died Monday, February 10, 2003 at Hospice Home of N.E. Indiana. A native of Fort Recovery, Ohio, he was a local contractor for 45 years before retiring in 1992. Brian Michael Clemens, 19, an Indiana National Guard soldier, whose unit was sent to Kuwait last month, died in a Humvee accident while he and four others were on patrol. Spc. Clemens of Kokomo died in the accident near Camp Arifjan, Kuwait. Four other Indiana National Guard soldiers suffered minor injuries.
