MARY R. SMITH, 92MARY R. SMITH, 92, died on Wednesday, June 6, 2012. She was born June 14, 1919 in New Castle. She was the daughter of Frank and Lola (Bouslog) Ritter. She graduated from New Castle High School and had degrees from Purdue and Saint Francis. She taught at Princeton, IN, Cadiz, Detroit, Washington Township, and also at Fort Wayne Southside, where she served as Dean of Girls. She was a member of Waynedale United Methodist Church, Kappa Alpha Theta, IRTA and served as past president for P. E. O. and Psi Iota Xi. She was an avid Purdue and Detroit Tigers and Lions fan.

She was preceded in death by her husband Paul L. Smith.

Surviving family members include step daughters, Patricia R. (Verrill) Rider of Fort Wayne and Suellen (Donald) Rumple of Hillsborough, New Jersey; sister, Betty (Robert, Deceased) Siefert of Bloomfield Hills, Michigan; six grandchildren, Brian (Rita Lyn) Rider, Craig (Nichole) Rider, Rebecca (Michael) Kwiatek, Kathleen (Michael) Ajamian, Jennifer Ziolko, and Donna (Mitch) Wegner; nieces, Cindy (John) Bonczyk, Peggy (John) Griffith, Barbara (Robert) Nelson, Trudy (Lowell) Lampen, and Sarah (Daniel) Cohen; and 15 great grandchildren.

A memorial service was held Saturday, June, 23, 2012 at 11:00 A.M. at Waynedale Methodist Church, 2501 Church Street, Fort Wayne, IN with visitation 1 hour before the service. Burial in Highland Park.
