BUSY, BUSY AT THE WIZARD'S OFFICE

The Wizard's baseball season is over. The employees can now take a rest and an extended vacation. That's what you think! With the exception of Mike Nutter (General Manager) who got married, the other ten employees have shifted into high gear.

The Padres have renewed their working agreement until 2004 so that's something the Wizards won't have to worry about during the off-season. The Padres pay the ball players salaries only during the season. With an...

Oooooohh I have to tell you I didn't want to do this column again so soon but Bertha called and said she was on her way to a 'viewing' and she did it right at deadline too. Bob said to go ahead and do it; he didn't even bother to draw short forks this time either. We assume she lost another one of her girl friends or a relative to old age; she didn't say. But she was sniffling and I could hear her tubby hubby grumbling in the background about having to lay on the bed to get his funeral suit...

ONE HOUR PHOTO

Directed/Written by: Mark Romanek

I went to see Possession, starring Gwyneth Paltrow, Aaron Eckhart, and Jeremy Northam with my friends last weekend and I'm able to sum this film up in one word-RENTAL. Talk about sticker shock . . . or whatever you want to call it, I got a bad case of it the other day and I'm still trying to get over it. I bought my deer hunting license or I should say two of them even though they were on the same piece of paper. I bought a buck license and a doe license or as they say now, "An antlered deer license and an antlerless deer license." Since there have been cases of does with antlers turning up in Indiana, you can't tell a doe with antlers from a buck. Last...

Baseball Is Over In Fort Wayne

The summer went so fast and now we must accept the fact that baseball is over in Fort Wayne. Some of you may be thinking what comes to my mind; "I missed so much local baseball this year." There were some high school, Little League, Connie Mack, and Wizards games that I missed. Many times something got in the way of taking in a game and this shouldn't happen because you only live once.

To me an empty ballpark is a very sad sight. One of the most...
