A lot has gone on since 9/11 happened. A lot of flags have been bought, flown, and displayed in every way shape and form. THE WAYNEDALE NEWS handed out about 1000 flag decals before, during, and after the Memorial Day weekend. I bought a new flag at Maynards and am flying it night and day from our porch. My neighbor has a pair of boxer shorts made to look like two American flags sewn together.

I have seen our national symbol on cars, trucks, windows, billboards, and magazine covers. Both...

LETTERS TO THE EDITOR

Letter to the editor,

(Sent to Journal Gazette)

In Response to Martha Schamehorn Jeers for Fort Wayne High School band directors . . .

Sorry Lady but the Waynedale community as a whole and especially the writer of this letter have nothing but PRAISE for Mr. Carson Kirby and his excellent ELMHURST High School Band for their participation in our Memorial Day Parade. However I will agree with Martha that a greater representation would be appreciated from the local high schools.

HOMETOWN VIEWS

with Cindy, Bob, Rob, and Ray – The Waynedale News Staff - minus 3

THAT'S THE WAY I SAW IT

Details photo by Cindy Cornwell “Close to the Action” Wizard Announcer Jack Johnson

I've always wondered what happens in the radio booth during a Wizards baseball game. I contacted Jack Johnson, Wizards Radio Announcer, and made an appointment to observe what goes on during the April 24th game with the Wizards playing South Bend with an 11:00 start.

Jack played nine years of organized baseball as a catcher for four different organizations. He knows his way around a baseball stadium very well. He also announces boxing and college basketball on the West Coast.

Jack's day...

SEAT BELTS – "CLICK IT OR TICKET?" COME ON!

I shouldn't approach this subject at all BUT I have heard other people's comments and most agree with my own thoughts on the subject of Indiana's stupid seat belt law. Personally, I think the seat belt law is unconstitutional, illegal, and an invasion of my privacy.

Hold on. Before you go and jump down my throat, think about it for a minute. The government (I can't think of anyone else to blame) or somebody with a 'wild hair' passed a law that...
