Oooooooohhhh I have to sort of re-tell you something that I told you sometime back when I told you what I'm going to tell you now but then it's not the same thing that I told you then; it's an update. Let's see what was it? Oh yes, Wayne and I went to K-Mart recently over by Park West shopping center. I heard they were going out of business and thought I'd go pick up some bargain drapes for the bedroom. They weren't going out of business wouldn't you know. They have applied for bankruptcy...

Talk about 'sticker shock', I got the surprise of my life the other day. My grandson Raymond Andrew recently joined Cub Scout Pack 3025 sponsored by South Wayne Elementary School or at least that's where they meet. I had promised Andrew that I would buy his first uniform shirt. I'll get to the sticker shock in a moment.

When our own two boys, Patrick and Michael, joined the Cub Scouts, you could find good used shirts at Salvation Army, Goodwill, or in garage sales. You can never find them...

To the Editor,

The Four Chaplains of World War II are remembered in February because their ship sank off the coast of Greenland on February 3, 1943. American Legion Post 296 will honor them with a short interfaith ceremony on Tuesday, February 19.

Since we didn't get to visit any restaurants here in our fair town of Waynedale, Indiana, USA, I'll tell you about the neatest eating place we found. My cute little tubby hubby and I ran across a restaurant over in Ohio that we fell in love with. I understand that it is one of a chain that is all over most of the...

Season of Lent reminds us of sin and our need for conversion

For me, Lent always starts with Mass on Ash Wednesday at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception in Fort Wayne. The church was packed. Then I was off to St. Mary's Church nearby for soup and bread with Father Tom O'Connor (a long tradition, recently restored). People gave up their lunch and came to Father Tom's for soup and bread and left what funds they would ordinarily pay for lunch, and more as well, so St. Mary's can...

Fort Wayne's High School Bowling

Bowling is becoming an established high school sports program in the Fort Wayne area and from the size of the spectators it is becoming popular with adults.

During a match Thursday, January 31st at Hillcrest Bowling Lanes, 36 lanes were being occupied with the Boys varsity taking up 12 lanes, Girls varsity 12 lanes, and JV's 12 lanes.

The Fort Wayne High School Bowling Conference has two divisions. The North Division comprising Bishop Dwenger...
