Oooooohhhhh I just have to tell you where Wayne and I stopped to eat on our way back home two weeks ago. We were out of state visiting Wayne's relatives down Columbus way recently. Since we didn't get to visit any restaurants here in our fair town of Waynedale, Indiana, USA, I'll tell you about the neatest eating place we found. My cute little tubby hubby and I ran across a restaurant over in Ohio that we fell in love with. I understand that it is one of a chain that is all over most of the...

Season of Lent reminds us of sin and our need for conversion

For me, Lent always starts with Mass on Ash Wednesday at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception in Fort Wayne. The church was packed. Then I was off to St. Mary's Church nearby for soup and bread with Father Tom O'Connor (a long tradition, recently restored). People gave up their lunch and came to Father Tom's for soup and bread and left what funds they would ordinarily pay for lunch, and more as well, so St. Mary's can...

I don't think I ever told anyone publicly but I love the town of Waynedale, Indiana. Of course it doesn't look anything like the small town that I came from in West Virginia 37 years ago. First of all, Gassaway, West Virginia is built partly on the side a mountain and when viewed on a topography map it looks like a peninsula, surrounded on three sides by water; Waynedale is for all practical purposes – flat. Part of Gassaway is on the banks of Elk River; Waynedale has a small creek and a...

Oooooohhhhh I just have to tell you where my little tubby hubby and I went to eat last Sunday. We went to the Munchie Emporium at 5907 Covington Road. They weren't too busy, just a steady stream of customers coming and going. We've been there before on different days and they were very busy then. We just happened to be out and around that day and as usual I had my book of coupons with me. We were given one of those entertainment coupon books that the Boy Scouts sell. That cute Ray McCune...

To the wonderful people of Waynedale,

Just recently I lost my husband of 27 years – Larry D. McGinnis. His sudden death was devastating; yet during this time of grief the love, compassion, prayers, and support the people of Waynedale and surrounding area have shown my family and me, has been overwhelming.

I never realized until now how many wonderful friends, my husband had made in the last 27 years while we've lived in the Waynedale area. I wish to thank everyone who, during the funeral...
