Ooooooh I just have to tell you, "Happy 2004 everybody." My, my, my, I haven't felt this good since last year. Wayne and I have been down south a time or two in the past few months and we've gotten a little behind. Well, actually my behind isn't so little since the holidays, but I'm working on it. Wayne said for me to get an industrial strength girdle and just forget it. Wearing one of those contraptions in my condition, in public, would be a dangerous thing if it got loose from me or...

REFLECTIONS ON NEW YEAR'S DAY

Years ago, now, I remember that John Hinkle, one of our seminary's teachers in the area of pastoral care and counseling said that one of his favorite verses from the New Testament was from the book of Revelation, Chapter 21, Verse 5: Behold, I make all things new. I think I only saw a half hour of Braveheart. The rest of the time my face was buried in my hands. The Last Samurai...

Reflections On Christmas

Every year at this time I always look for Charles Schultz's rendition of A Charlie Brown Christmas on television. I know that that dates me. That TV special is almost as old as dirt, now. It was produced in 1965. Charles Schultz did us an incredible favor, when he introduced the idea that we were in danger of losing the real message of Christmas, the birth of the Christ child, and replacing it with instead the commercialization of Christmas.

Oh, I know. We...
