"A Little Flood History"

In light of the recent floods in Northeast Indiana, can history give us anything useful about managing this catastrophe? Given that water already covers 70% of the earth and that 3 rivers run through Allen County, we can be thankful for the high ground there is and be mindful that floods are likely to occur. We have therefore all the more reason for an adequate flood control system in Allen County.

Writing from Turkey, we have heard much recently about a flood here...

Oooooohhh I just have to tell you, Bertha and her Tubby Hubby are on vacation again. Well actually they are visiting relatives up north at a lake somewhere. I think it is a secluded area because I asked if she was taking a bathing suit and she said, "Why?" The last time she came back with an all over tan. I really didn't want to see it or even hear about it but she let me know about it anyway, right down to the last mosquito bite and where it was located. I felt like I had to go watch...

When I first saw previews for Seabiscuit, starring Toby McGuire (Spider-Man), Jeff Bridges (The Contender), Chris Cooper (Adaptation), and William H. Macy (Door to Door), I laughed pretty hard. I found it kind of ridiculous that Universal Pictures was making a movie about a horse raising the spirits of Americans during the Great Depression. I mean, a horse? Give me a break. The Great Adventure

High school yearbooks are real treasures. On one hand, they contain photographs and memories of days gone by, but they also point forward in anticipation of what is to come. Some movies are good and make it look easy. A good example would be Pirates of the Caribbean The Curse of the Black Pearl starring Orlando Bloom (The Lord of the Rings), Geoffrey Rush (Frida) and Johnny Depp (Blow). Pirates tells the story of a boy (Bloom) out to save his girl (Keira Knightley, Bend it Like Beckham) with the help of a pirate who wants his ship back, even if its crew is under a curse. This movie is thoroughly entertaining, especially for being based on a theme park ride. It's...

Oh my darlin', oh, my darlin', oh my darlin', Clementine!

Oooooohhh I just have to tell you, Wayne and I have found just the nicest restaurant and the name is of course, you guessed it; Clementine's. And it's not in Waynedale or even Fort Wayne; it's in Columbia City just northwest of here on Route 30. It's only about a half-hour drive, if you don't stop to fool around, and the food is soooo good you'll want to go back again and again. We were antique/garage sale hunting and we happen to...
