What is your number?

A man approaches God and says, "God, when you look at me what is the number?" God replies, "The number is 20,279,520." The man goes away stunned. Ten years later he returns and says, "God, look at me and tell me the number." God replies, "The number is 25,535,763." The man is incredulous. God says, "Make that 25,535,764—doubt counts as well." The First of Five

During my second month of college, our professor gave us a pop quiz. I was a conscientious student and had breezed through the questions, until I read the last one: "What is the first name of the woman who cleans the school?"

Surely, this was some kind of joke. I had seen the cleaning woman several times. She was tall, dark-haired and in her 50's, but how would I know her name? I handed in my paper, leaving the last question blank.

She and her husband, Walter (Matthew Broderick), decide that in order to save Joanna's sanity and their teetering marriage, they should...

BASEBALL SCOUTS by Denver Howard

The other night at a Wizards game, a man behind home plate was checking pitchers with his speed gun. We started talking and I found him to be very friendly. His name was Larry Chase and he is a baseball scout for the New York Mets. A scout has the distinction of being one of the few people in this world that are paid to watch baseball games.

Chase lives in Pearcy, Arkansas and is the area supervisor for the states of North and South Dakota, Arkansas...

Oooooooh, I just got to tell you Wayne and I didn't go out much these last couple of weeks. We've had a bout of the gillywhumps or the gizzywheezers or whatever it is that is going around. Our eyes have been watering and we've been sniffling and sneezing something just awful. Neither one of us had a fever or anything that would suggest we had a cold or the flu. I's sure we didn't have anything contagious. Maybe it was just too much of that yard work. Gettin' everything to look just so you...
