LITTLE RIVER WETLANDS PROJECT EXCITING 2008 EVENTS

Little River Wetlands Project, a local nature organization protecting over 1000 acres of wetlands southwest of Fort Wayne, will offer lots of exciting day and evening events in early 2008. All are free and open to the community!

 

•Little River Ramblers Nature Hikes at Eagle Marsh every Tuesday 9-11 a.m. Leave from the Boy Scout Office parking lot at the end of Olde Canal Place Road (Verizon exit on W. Jefferson).

 

•Themed Nature Hikes First Saturday of every month, 1-3 p.m.

*January 5 - Animal Tracks and Signs with Rachel Smith, Allen County Parks and Recreation. Eagle Marsh--Leave from the Boy Scout Office parking lot at the end of Olde Canal Place Road (Verizon Exit on W. Jefferson)

*February 2 - Wake-Up Woodlands with Betsy Yankowiak, Executive Director of LRWP.  Arrowhead Marsh--take Redding Drive off of W. Jefferson to Aboite Road, turn left and the preserve is just past the barn on the left.

*Monday, January 28, 7:00-8:30 p.m. "Going Bats" - Bob and Ann Walton, Bat Rehabilitators, present information, pictures, and their own lively experiences with their many and beloved foster bats. Meet at the Aboite Library, 5630 Coventry Lane, Fort Wayne in the large meeting room.

*Wednesday, February 20, 6:30-8:00 p.m. "Twilight Winter Wonderland" Sunset  Hike  with Betsy Yankowiak, LRWP's Executive Director. Experience the mysteries of Eagle Marsh on a snowy (we hope!) evening. Meet at the Eagle Marsh barn on the south side of Engle Road 1/2 mile east of W. Jefferson Blvd., Fort Wayne.

*Breakfast on the Marsh: 8-10 a.m., second Thursday of every month. Well seasoned nature lovers (50+), join us for breakfast, a nature presentation, and an optional walk at Eagle Marsh. Note: our programs are cancelled if Southwest Allen County Public Schools are closed due to inclement weather and hikes are cancelled if the wind-chill is 10 degrees F or colder.
