MESSAGE FROM THE MAYOR: LEGACY FORT WAYNE

Details MAYOR TOME HENRY

It's exciting to see the community's vision of Legacy Fort Wayne beginning to take shape! Two weeks ago, I told you about a Riverfront Study we are seeking to have done, to come up with a plan to maximize our riverfront. In late February, we issued a request for proposals (RFP) for a study of youth sports opportunities in Fort Wayne. The RFP seeks proposals from qualified consultants to conduct a thorough Youth Sports Community Assessment and Market Potential Study.

The end goal is to build...

VOICE OF THE TOWNSHIP: EMPLOYMENT TRAINING CENTER

Details RICHARD A. STEVENSON

Wayne Township is among the largest townships in Indiana, with a staff of over thirty employees. Since I took office, I have made several changes at our office, while always keeping in mind the dual goals of the office. Those goals are being a community leader in countering the effects of poverty while maintaining careful guardianship of the taxpayers' resources.

Among our many accomplishments has been to reorganize the employment department, now called the "Employment Training Center," to...

STRAIGHT FROM THE SENATE: LONG: GENERAL ASSEMBLY PAST HALFWAY POINT; SEVERAL KEY ISSUES REMAIN

Details SENATOR LONG

Indiana lawmakers are now in the second half of the 2013 legislative session. Key initiatives to better this state and our Fort Wayne community are well on their way to becoming law. Of the bills passed in the Senate thus far, several are worth noting. In fact, a Senate initiative to help Indiana...

The General Assembly is taking several important steps this session to curb this unfortunate trend and make sure our veterans have a clear pathway toward a career and strong financial foundation for themselves and their families.
One of the most important ways to achieve that goal is to remove any barriers to education for veterans.

The Senate recently...

VOICE OF THE TOWNSHIP: TAX TIME

Details RICHARD A. STEVENSON

One of my least favorite times of year is upon us. Not only is the weather still chilly and dreary, it is tax time. As most of you know already, Federal and State income tax returns are due on Monday, April 15. Many of us struggle with filling out those tax forms and could use some help.

But, we also don't want to spend a bunch of money or don't have the money to pay for tax help. If we are getting a refund, we don't want that refund eaten up by tax preparation and other fees often charged by...

MESSAGE FROM THE MAYOR: RIVERFRONT DEVELOPMENT STUDY

Details MAYOR HENRY

I recently joined with Legacy Fort Wayne leaders to discuss the request for proposals (RFP) for a Riverfront Development Study for the City of Fort Wayne. This will be the first comprehensive look at the City's rivers to determine opportunities to enhance the riverfront.

We are currently seeking proposals from qualified consultants and consultant teams. Proposals are due on April 12 and interviews with finalists will occur in May. A final selection is expected to be made this summer. It's...
