INVESTIGATION OF AQUA INDIANA ONGOING, CONCERNS REMAIN

Details

Access to a consistent, reliable and ample supply of water is one of the most essential services for a functioning community. Unfortunately, residents of Aboite Township in our area have continually faced unsatisfactory water services from private utility company, Aqua Indiana. Insufficient supply, severely low water pressure and unwarranted rate hikes have plagued Aqua customers for too long, and this summer it became necessary to intervene.

In July, I urged the Indiana Utility Regulatory...

MESSAGE FROM THE MAYOR: FORT WAYNE SAFETY

Details MAYOR TOM HENRY

One of the things that attracts people to our city is the steps that we take to make Fort Wayne safe for everyone – including children and families.

With that in mind, school transportation officials have asked that we remind residents to be cautious when approaching a stopped school bus. Officials have seen an increasing number of school bus stop arm violations – cases where motorists are disregarding the extended "STOP" arm of the school bus -- which poses a risk to the thousands of children...

VOICE OF THE TOWNSHIP: MR. BIRCH

Details RICHARD A. STEVENSON

Ethan Birch has had numerous problems and bumps in the road in his life, but he has learned how to turn these negatives into positives. From time to time, I like to invite to our employment class outside speakers with whom clients can identify. This might include speakers who...

Indiana has come a long way since 1816, but it's these aspects of our state that have and will always define us as Hoosiers. As our 196th birthday nears, it's an...

The leaf collection teams will conduct two leaf pick-ups in each neighborhood, beginning on October 22 and running through December 7. They will start in the Central section of the City, then work their way South and North.

Leaf collection crews will be in the Waynedale area, and...

VOICE OF THE TOWNSHIP: SUCCESS CAN BE ACHIEVED

Details RICHARD A. STEVENSON

"I'm one of you." This is what I recently told a large orientation class of new Wayne Township Assistance clients. The reason I made that comment is that when I was in my 20's I lost my job and had to seek assistance.

I explained to the class that I had a good paying job with the City of Fort Wayne. I had a nice car and home. I was very proud and on top of the world. I never thought I would be out of a job. Then, the funding for my job was cut, and I found myself unemployed.

I lost my car, my...
