Waynedale Politial Commentaries

What are your Waynedale (Fort Wayne), Indiana politicians working on for you? Local, regional and state wide politics can be found here written by your elected officials.

RICHARD A. STEVENSON

Wayne Township is among the largest townships in Indiana, with a staff of over thirty employees. Since I took office, I have made several changes at our office, while always keeping in mind the dual goals of the office. Those goals are being a community leader in countering the effects of poverty while maintaining careful guardianship of the taxpayers' resources.

Among our many accomplishments has been to reorganize the employment department, now called the "Employment Training Center," to...

SENATOR LONG

Indiana lawmakers are now in the second half of the 2013 legislative session. Key initiatives to better this state and our Fort Wayne community are well on their way to becoming law. In the Senate, 98 percent of the bills we've passed garnered bipartisan support. It's encouraging to see such a high level of civility and collaboration in the Indiana General Assembly this year.

We are currently seeking proposals from qualified consultants and consultant teams. Proposals are due on April 12 and interviews with finalists will occur in May. A final selection is expected to be made this summer. It's...

SENATOR LONG

The Indiana Senate had the unique opportunity last week to host a conversation with NASA Commander Kevin Ford live from the International Space Station. We watched from our desks as NASA mission control in Houston beamed us through to Commander Ford, who floated into our field of vision on the video screen in the Senate Chamber.

Commander Ford, a Hoosier native and brother of the late Indiana State Sen. David Ford, is just over 100 days in to his five-month stint aboard the space station. He...
