I wanted to take this opportunity to update you on our efforts to make flood protection improvements.

On February 19, the Board of Public Works approved a contract for the construction of a stormwater project to provide increased protection for properties on Fernwood Avenue, Dalevue Drive and Prairie Grove Drive. The area has experienced chronic flooding.

When I was a small child, the mention of Billy the Kid caused my playmates and I to become excited, and we would pretend to shoot at one another. Often there would be a long drawn out shooting contest with one or more of us falling down to the ground pretending to be dead.

The General Assembly is currently at its halfway point. The Senate has passed many legislative proposals aimed at improving our economy, schools and Hoosier workforce. Bipartisanship is strong in the Indiana Senate – 99 percent of bills passed with support from legislators on both sides of the aisle.

When I graduated from high school, you could very easily find work at one of the businesses in or around Fort Wayne. Some of the wages allowed you to have many of the things you desired such as a nice home, a nice car, a retirement plan, and vacations. You could provide or help with secondary education for children.
