One of the most exciting and rewarding duties of the Wayne Township Trustee is to network with agencies forming partnerships that leverage our resources and have a lasting effect on this great community. This past week, I was able to learn a great deal about two sources for early childhood education - the CANI Head Start Program and the Martin Luther King Montessori School. New York Visited

 

Late summer is a beautiful time to be in the "Big Apple". This year was even more special since I was able to attend my first Republican National Convention in the "city that never sleeps".

For those who have never been there, the size of the community, the size of the buildings, the sights in the day, and the sights in the night are almost unexplainable. New Yorkers love their city...and now so do I.

NEW TRAIL OPENED

 

Mayor Graham Richard opened the West Jefferson Trail Project. The new trail links Rockhill and Swinney Parks. The trail begins in Rockhill Park and connects with the Rivergreenway in Swinney Park. Landscaping features include several varieties of tree species and perennial plants. A limestone wall was constructed to identify Rockhill Park, and historical markers were installed to reflect back when the area was part of the Wabash and Erie canals.

Fort Wayne's greenway system continues to expand. As you are probably aware, a major extension of the greenway system from Swinney Park to Rockhill Park was recently dedicated. This week I'm planning to spend some time checking out the next proposed link of the greenway from Rockhill Park along the "Junk Ditch" to a point near the intersection of West Jefferson Blvd. and Engle Road. Funding for the township comes from the taxpaying citizens of Wayne Township.
