Great News!! After months of discussion and hundreds of signatures of citizens and business owners on petitions the new traffic signal at Lower Huntington Road and Bluffton Road is on the way! The contract was just awarded for this $40,000 plus project that is 50% funded by 4th District CEDIT funds that I dedicated for new traffic signals several months ago. I've been told by the Fort Wayne Public Works officials that the new signals should be in place by December if the weather holds out...

I had the great pleasure to participate in the grand opening of the Jorgenson YMCA facility last week. What a fabulous building! The first sight as you walk in the doorways is a huge room filled with the most modern weight machines, stair climbers, treadmills, and other exercise equipment that can be found.

It is that time of year again when the temperatures cool and the leaves start to fall. The City of Fort Wayne's Street Department is gearing up for another year of leaf pickup. This year's program will begin on October 13 and run through December 19.

Payee Program

 

As a result of the tremendously difficult times in the Fort Wayne area many of the agencies have struggled to keep funding for services to help those in need. To supplement the outstanding service and dedication of these agencies, the Wayne Township Trustee's Office Payee Program continues to grow and prosper by "right sizing" the help a family needs fill in the gaps between community support and total self-sufficiency. The recent and untimely death of Governor Frank O'Bannon was a sad day for all of us who knew and worked with this man. The Governor was a fixture in Indiana politics for over 33 years. He served 18 years in the State Senate, 8 years as Lieutenant Governor, and was about to complete his 7th year as Governor. That is an almost unprecedented level of public service to this State.
