If you ever wondered if your vote counted, wonder no more. Just look at what has happened in our state and our nation the past two years. Beginning with the Florida presidential vote, and moving right on through to the current recounts we are seeing in Allen County and elsewhere in the State, it is clear that we are in an era of close elections where every vote counts.

The Indiana House of Representatives has been under the control of the Democratic party for several years now, but in each...

By the time you read this column, the county/state/national elections will be over. That will probably be a relief to many who have become tiered of the endless stream of political advertisements during the last few weeks. The good or bad news is that 2002 is the first year of a three-year election cycle that includes the city elections next year and another round of country/state/national elections in 2004. My father passed away in May 2001. Though he lived in California, I was able to visit with him twice within a four-week span. A week after the last visit, he passed away. The fact that I took the time to see him despite an extremely busy schedule is something...

As you have probably heard, the local US Post Office recently sent a letter to many postal customers asking that mailboxes be moved from the front of homes to the sidewalk. One of the ZIP codes affected by this request is the 46809 area which includes much of the "Waynedale News" reading public. It is my understanding that this measure is designed to protect our hard-working postal workers who haul thousands of pounds of mail up and down steps every week. As I understand it, moving mailboxes...
