THE VOICE OF THE TOWNSHIP

It's hard to believe Spring is around the corner as I find myself still waiting for winter. With the new season comes Wayne Township's 6th Annual Easter Egg Hunt! Come and join us at Headwaters Park (West) on Saturday, March 30, 2002 at 11:00 AM. Children between the ages of 3 and 12 can participate in the hunt!

Issues of homelessness have been highlighted in the news over the past several months as community organizations, including WTT, have worked together to raise awareness for this very real problem. Our Easter Egg Hunt, however, is our way of recognizing the children who live in transitional housing (shelters) and of raising public awareness.

Wayne Township invites all children in our community to participate in the festivities, but especially makes an effort to reach the children in the numerous shelters and temporary living situations. The more children that attend, the more joy they share. Please bring your family out next Saturday to enjoy the celebration and spirit of community. There is absolutely no admission charge or any fee involved. It is made possible through the caring, generous donations by the community members.

Children will compete during the Easter Egg Hunt in the following age groups: 3-5 yrs. / 6-8 yrs. / 9-12 yrs. We also have hundreds of goodie bags to give away!

Every day, my staff and I see firsthand the personal hardships of our fellow citizens, whether they are victims of domestic violence or senior citizens who cannot afford medications. The Easter Egg Hunt, however, is an event that allows us to serve our community in the most positive environment. It is always a fulfilling and joyous day for us. This event is put on by the Wayne Township's Outreach Department, which provides transitional housing to families. I would like to thank Lois Dada, Outreach Supervisor, and her staff for all the hard work and caring that they put into this project.

My staff and I look forward to seeing you! If you have any questions about this event, please call Wayne Township at 449-7000.
